Tao lounge in Juru Auto-city
Tao is way too familiar for Penang people. Tao is an upscale restaurant offering eat-all-you-can buffet with full table service focusing on quality rather than on price. The restaurant includes specialties such as Japanese, Chinese, Thailand, and other foreign or ethnic food. Tao has been in Penang since 2006.

It was my pleasure to be invited for their food tasting! I'm not a big fan of buffet because I can't eat much, but I'm a super big fan of japanese food! yum yum! It's my first time to dine in Tao in auto-city, I've been to Tao in e-gate last time though but never in auto-city. My friends kept telling me that Tao in Juru Auto-city has really great ambiance, so I was really looking forward to this! Hehe!
Exterior of Tao, it might be a little hard to find, I myself  wasn't sure this was the entrance ;p
There's another entrance beside Nandos too.
just beside iceice baby
or you can spot Starbucks first
If you enter from the entrance beside iceice baby, this is what you'll see
This is what you'll see at the entrance beside Nandos
and the entrance of the restaurant

A private room if you want one
I quite like the interior, really authentic I'll say. It provides customers with different choices of seats and experiences. The whole place is spacious with 300 pax sitting capacity. You can have you special occasion such as birthday, family gathering, anniversaries, banquets, special event, receptions and meetings there. Be sure to make reservation in advance with them ya.
A salad bar, take whatever you want!
various fresh vege and fruits to be chosen
of course, salad dressing is just beside it
coffee machines, serve yourself with your fav drink
Snack bar, you can't miss this out
Wondering what's on the snack bar? Here they are:
Potato salad
have some cooked fish if sashimi is not you cup of tea
Jelly fish
Fried fish skin
Wakame (edible seaweed)
Ready for the feast
After exploring the whole place, it's time to eat!
Kakihiroyaki, baked FRESH oyster with cheese mayo. FRESH!
Prawn Mantis, fried with salt and pepper. The taste of salt and pepper was just nice, you might see red pepper but it's not that spicy.
Spicy Tsubu (escargot), fresh and chewy!
Lamb Teriyaki, I don't eat mutton but according to my friend, it's really chewy and there's no hint of gaminess. At first we thought it was beef coz there's no gamy taste.
Gyoza
Salmon teriyaki, my personal fav, apparently this is a must have dish in Tao.
Sashimi moriawase: we had salmon, shiro maguro, toro, shime saba and tako. I can't eat raw coz of my weak stomach T_T my friend said it was all very fresh and simply delicious, especially the shime saba. His happy face and thumbs up said it all.
sushi roll: from the left Ippon, chef's special maki and u-maki
Let's talk about Ippon first, coz I like it very much, hehe. Egg, cucumber, crab stick, lettuce and cream cheese wrapped in Vietnamese rice paper. It's something like Vietnamese popiah. First bite you'll taste the green taste of vege, then cream cheese will kicks in and melts in you mouth, and with the chewy rice paper, it seriously tasted real good. However, those who don't like the green taste and cheese, you should avoid this.
Ippon, yum yum!
Chef's special maki, as you can see it's wrapped in cake instead of the normal seaweed, filled with crab stick, cucumber, chicken floss and mayo. The cake tasted a little bit sweet but doesn't overcome the taste of the sushi.

Lastly, u-maki. Unagi, mayo, sesame seed and cucumber wrapped in egg, no seaweed wrapping. I'm an egg-lover so this is surely a thumbs up from me. Worth a shot if you want something new instead of normal sushi roll wrapped in seaweed.
2nd round!
Green dragon roll
What's so special about this green dragon roll is that, it's topped with avocado and mango. There's fried prawn, crab stick and cucumber inside, mango and avocado outside and the pinkish liquid you see is strawberry sauce. So imagine the salty food taste on the inside combine with the sweetness on the outside. I found it acceptable and delectable to some extent, but it's a no for my friend. You'll be the judge.
Ginko korokke
Instead of using potato like the normal korokke, ginko korokke is made of deep fried yam with ginko and sweet potato. So it taste sweet, unlike the normal korokke with salty taste. I didn't like the sweetness of it but it was overall ok for me, as for my friend, he's fancy of it.

Crab meat cream cheese
If you don't like cheese, be sure to avoid this! For cheese lover, this is heaven. It's stuffed with crab meat and cream cheese, very creamy and rich in cheese.

Potato salad, mushy potato with strong onion taste, it's either love it or hate it.
Potato salad was the only thing we could try from the snack bar coz we were all too full to try everything. Sad case! But thanks for the hearty meal!

The details are stated on the top of this post, be sure to enjoy it with you family and friends. It's better to share one dish with more people so you can enjoy more variety of food. My advice is don't order too mush teriyaki food at once, you might get sick of the taste. Last but not least, enjoy the food!
