Japan earthquake

Saturday, March 12, 2011

Since yesterday 5pm, I've been watching BBC live news on japan earthquake and tsunami. The most seriously affected area was in the northeast coastal such as Sendai , Iwate ,Miyagi and more. I can't imagine myself being there to withstand this Magnitude 8.9 earthquake then followed by a 10 meters high tsunami wave.......

Tsunami alert was issued to the countries at the pacific basin. Everything happen just in seconds, tsunami sweeps away literally everything, houses, farms, cars, container, EVERYTHING! Fukushima nuclear plant leaking was reported with 1000 times above normal. Total of 2 plants and 5 reactors cooling systems failed and people were evacuated. Some area even caught fire, serious fire and explosion of oil refinery and fire on chemical and natural gases factories. Terrifying...

The numbers of casualties and death are sill increasing. At the moment, 427 dead and 740 missing from BBC, from japan news channel more than 1300 total of death and missing...... It is really hard and heartbroken to see these number increase.

Power supply was off and networks are dead especially in the most affected area. A magnitude 7.6 aftershock happened today and it is not impossible to ave 2nd wave of tsunami. Please god, please let everyone be safe.

What to be happy about is that, advanced tech of japan had saved thousands and millions of life for issuing tsunami alert early. What we can do now, for us that are so far away from there, is pray for there safety and hope everything will be fine...

  3. It is disasters like this that begs the question of our own mortality. When we experience witnessing suffering and death, we mourn as we acknowledge our own limited time on this earth.

The scale of destruction was preceded by the wake of destruction in Aceh, but I'm afraid Japan has the potential to surpass this, if the Fukushima plant is not dealt with properly, and recovery might take almost a decade as a result. All eyes are now on Naoto Kan on how he deals with this.

I hope the relief effort do come through quickly. Leaders of the globe are extending help right now.

sure, now all eyes are on the PM NAoto Kan, the nuclear plant is the most serious problem now. If it is solved, then think Japan can rebuild very fast.
